Community Larder

Community Larder

Springfield Community Larder will re-launch on Wednesday 9 September at the CPCC Community Hub with extended opening hours from 3pm to 7pm, becoming the first community larder in Milton Keynes to open after 5pm. The new hours will make it easier for people across the city, including those with work, education, school, childcare or caring commitments, to access a SOFEA community larder outside traditional daytime hours.

The re-launch marks an exciting new chapter for the larder, which provides a welcoming and practical way for local people to access good quality surplus food, save money and help reduce food waste. Facilitated by SOFEA, a UK charity with a base in Bletchley, and run by Campbell Park Community Council, the larder supports SOFEA’s wider mission to tackle inequality, strengthen communities and transform lives through education, employment opportunities and purpose-driven projects.

Access to the SOFEA community larder is by membership only, but membership is open to everyone looking to support the mission to reduce food waste and redistribute surplus food. Weekly membership starts from £4.50 and provides access to a range of staple groceries, including tinned goods, chilled and frozen foods, and fresh fruit and veg.

Volunteering opportunity

The larder is also looking for friendly and reliable volunteers to help with a range of tasks, including welcoming members, sorting food, supporting the smooth running of sessions and helping create a positive experience for everyone who visits.

Volunteering with the Community Larder is a great way to meet people, learn new skills, support local families and be part of a friendly local community that makes a real difference if you are interested, please find more information about the role on our Vacancies page – LINK TO VACANCIES PAGE
