MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMUNITY ACTION COMMITTEE HELD ON Monday 26 November 2007 AT FISHERMEAD HOUSE, 1 PENCARROW PLACE, FISHERMEAD, commencing at 7.00pm

100/07 Minutes of the Last Meeting
The Minutes of the last previous meeting, having already been circulated, were approved and signed by the Chairman.
Children/Youth Activities
101/07 Fun Days - Report No: CA/018/07
Following discussion it was agreed that during 2008/09:
(i) face to face meetings will be held with external providers
(ii) a sub committee comprising of Martyn Lee, Cllrs Dudhill and I Fraser to discuss holding a fun day during May and to bring a report to January Committee
(iii) a rota to be prepared comprising of a ward councillor and member of staff to attend and monitor all functions.
102/07 Youth Worker Training Scheme - Report No: CA/017/07
Following discussion it was agreed that a report be prepared for January Committee, detailing how the £5,000 grant has been, or will be spent on this project . Cllr Dudhill to discuss with Cllr Conway.
103/07 Fishermead Inter-Agency
Martyn Lee reported to Committee that:
(i) future meetings had been put on hold
(ii) an information booklet listing agencies working within the Parish is being produced and will be available shortly. Clerk to Committee to contact all Councillors requesting details of any groups within their wards. Information to Martyn Lee by 7th December.
104/07 Community Mobiliser Funding 2008/09 - Paper B
Committee to recommend to Council that this grant be approved on the understanding that the Community Mobiliser work in the other wards within the Parish.
Cllr I Fraser requested that it be minuted that CPPC had a great deal of respect for the work carried out within the Parish by Martyn Lee.
105/07 Supporting 8-13 year old Funding - Paper C
Following discussion it was agreed that Cllr Dudhill, Turner and the Clerk to Committee apply for funding if applicable
Unemployment
106/07 Campbell Park Unemployment Initiative - Paper D
Following discussion it was agreed that Committee bring any ideas to January Committee.
Elderly
107/07 Elderly
Alison Skelton, Home Visiting Co-ordinator, Age Concern and Kirsty Heath, Everyday Activity Co-ordinator, MKC discussed with Committee, areas of co-operation between themselves and CPPC.
Following discussion it was agreed that:
(i) home visitors from Age Concern, who visit the elderly on a regular basis, would discuss with the elderly what social facilities they would like to see provided. Age Concern will then forward the information to this Committee
(ii) Committee to contact Kirsty Heath with the aim of providing such facilities.
Martyn Lee suggested to Committee that the local PCSO or Safety Officer regularly visit the elderly to discuss safety matters thus decreasing their feelings of isolation.
General Community Items
108/07 Community Interaction Events
Following discussion it was agreed that Committee bring any ideas to help create community cohesion to January Committee.
Ideas to date include:
(i) dance festival
(ii) street parties
(iii) community awards
109/07 Milton Keynes Orchestra
Jackie Allen, Education & Outreach Officer for Milton Keynes Orchestra, explained to Committee that Fishermead is included in a project called ‘Musical Estates'. A 10 piece ensemble will be working in Meadfurlong and Pebbles family centre with children and families introducing them to music and the theatre. The project culminates in a concert hosted in Meadfurlong school, followed by a concert at Milton Keynes Theatre on February 17th 2008. Funding has been obtained to hire a coach to take residents of Fishermead to the theatre free of charge.
An itinerary will be forwarded to Committee when available.
110/07 Pond Survey
Following discussion it was agreed that this project be discussed at January Committee.
Cllr Turner informed Committee that Jill Dewick of would be interested in involving children on Willen in working on the Willen Pond.
Clerk to Committee to forward survey paperwork to Committee.

111/07 Community Action Budget Wish List
Following discussion it was agreed that projects discussed above be listed.
112/07 Date of next meeting
The next meeting of the Community Action Committee will be held on Tuesday 11 December 2007 at 7.00pm.
