MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMUNITY ACTION COMMITTEE HELD on Monday 26 January 2008 AT FISHERMEAD HOUSE, 1 PENCARROW PLACE, FISHERMEAD commencing at 7.00pm

Cllr Conway to item 3; Community Mobiliser Programme

004/08      Minutes of the Last Meeting

The Minutes of the last previous meeting, having already been circulated, were approved and signed by the Chairman.

Children/Youth Activities

005/08      New Community Mobiliser

Josan Race, Milton Keynes Council of Voluntary Organisations (MCVO), introduced herself to the Committee as the new Community Mobiliser on Fishermead.

It was proposed and duly accepted that Josan Race be accepted as a co-opted member of this Committee

006/08      Community Mobiliser Programme

                    Report No: CA/001/08

Following discussion it was agreed that Cllrs Dudhill, Turner and the Administration Manager, be appointed to:

‘hold talks with the Deputy Director of the CVO, to consider the future development of the Community Mobiliser Programme, with an emphasis on establishing a  greater partnership approach including a review of the communication structure'.

Cllr Petchey proposed that it be noted that David Livermore agreed that the communication structure could work better.

007/08      Youth Worker Training Scheme

                   Report No: CA/002/08

The above Report was duly noted by Committee.

Cllr I Fraser requested that it be confirmed that it is legal for the Parish to pay a training allowance to the two trainees receiving their training outside of the Parish.  This to be  reported back to February Committee.

008/08      Fun Days

Following discussion it was agreed that a sub committee comprising of Cllrs I Fraser and Dudhill. Josan Race (MKCVO) and the Administration Manager, present to Committee their views regarding Report No: CA/018/07 (Summer Fun Days).

009/08      Supporting 8 -13 year old Funding

Following discussion it was agreed that Committee recommend to Council that the Parish apply for the above funding from MKC.

Unemployment

010/08      Campbell Park Unemployment Initiative

Following discussion it was agreed that this item be removed from the Agenda.

Elderly

011/08      Elderly

Following discussion it was agreed that:

(i)      Cllr I Fraser and Ennew  discuss with Age Concern their expenditure programme for the £10,000 grant received from  the Parish (Clerk to Committee to arrange meeting)

(ii)      to invite Cathy Irvin, Community Development Officer, Age Concern to the February meeting.

General Community Items

012/08      Community Interaction Events

Following discussion it was agreed that:

Dance Festival

(i)      Administration Manager to co-ordinate event

(ii)      discussions be held with Great Linford (Waterside), Parks Trust and organisers of Folk on the Green 

(iii)     a working party comprising of Cllrs Petchey, Dudhill and T Turner, the  Administration Manager and Josan Race (CVO) report back findings to the Committee within 3 months.

Carnival

Administration Manage to discuss with Woughton Parish Council CPPC inclusion within their carnival.

Street Parties/Community Awards

To be removed from Agenda.

013/08      Milton Keynes Orchestra - Paper D

Committee noted the above.  Item to be removed from the Agenda.

014/08      Pond Survey - Paper E

Following discussion it was agreed that:

(i)      Cllr T Turner co-ordinate with Gill Dewick regarding Willen School's involvement in the survey

(ii)      Josan Race, (CVO) to involve volunteers within Fishermead

(iii)     schools within the Parish to be approached regarding their involvement in the project.

To be re-presented at May Committee.
