021/08      Minutes of the Last Meeting

The Minutes of the last previous meeting, having already been circulated, were approved and signed by the Chairman.

022/08      Age Concern

Cathy Irvin, Community Development Worker for Age Concern, informed Committee of her work in helping  the active elderly within the community set up groups and activities.  She left with Committee for their information:

  • (i)      Information directory for the over 60s
  • (ii)      Brochure ‘Adding value by joining generation'
  • (iii)     2007 report on the ‘Annual Discussion Forum'

Matter Arising

023/08      Community Mobiliser Programme Meeting

The date of 3 March was agreed for a meeting between David Livermore (Deputy Director of the MKCVO), Josan Race (MKCVO) Cllrs T Turner and Dudhill and the Administration Manager to discuss (i) a greater partnership approach and (ii) a review of the communication structure.

024/08      Fun Days Meeting

The date of 5 March was agreed for a meeting between the sub-committee comprising of Cllrs I Fraser and Dudhill, Josan Race and the Administration Manager.  A report to be prepared for March Committee regarding  Report No: CA/018/07 (Summer Fun Days).

025/08      Youth Worker Trainees Allowances

It was agreed that Cllr I Fraser and the Administration Manager respond to the email from  Ian Mark (Senior Legal Executive, BALC) regarding the legalities of the trainees allowances.

026/08      Age Concern Meeting

It was agreed that Cllrs I Fraser and Ennew attend the meeting with Jane Palmer (Chief Executive, Age Concern) and the Office Manager/Parish Clerk to discuss expenditure of the £10,000 grant.  The meeting to be arranged by the Parish Manager/ Clerk.

027/08      Dance Festival

(i)  The date of 11 March was agreed for a meeting of the Dance Festival working party comprising of Cllrs Petchey, Dudhill and T Turner, Josan Race and the Administration Manager.

(ii)  Clerk to Committee to  meet external festival organisers.  (012/08 (iii))

028/08      Pond Survey

The date of 19 March was agreed for the meeting of Cllrs Dudhill, T Turner and Josan Race to discuss (i) the Pond Survey and (ii) how to move the project forward with Gill Dewick, Fishermead residents and schools within the Parish.

029/08      Willen Lake Activities

Following discussion it was agreed that:

(i)      the central principal for choosing participants in these activities be one of need.  Need could include finance or a child carer

(ii)      that the Administration Manager draft a nomination form and circulate to all Committee Members for their comments.  Form to be presented to March Committee

(iii)     sub committee to short list applicants and present to Committee for final decision

(iv)    that consideration be given to the Parish funding extra places if required.

030/08      Woughton Parish Council Carnival

Clerk to Committee to discuss with Woughton Parish Council (012/08).

Children/Youth Activities

031/08      8 -13 year old Youth Club Funding

Following discussion it was agreed that:    

(i)      the £4,000 grant from Milton Keynes Council (MKC) be accepted and presented to Council retrospectively

(ii)      that the leaders of the defunct Willen Youth Club be approached to discuss re-opening this facility

032/08      Funding Application Forms

Committee discussed revising the Funding Application Form to allow for stricter evaluation of funding.  Clerk to Committee to provide samples of external forms to March Committee for discussion (eg; Community Foundation).

033/08      The Point Youth Club

Josan Race informed Committee that a Youth Club for the over 14s is held at The Point, Central Milton Keynes, on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4.00pm to 7.00pm.  Information to be emailed to the office for inclusion in the magazine.

039/08      Community Action Committee       

Following discussion it was agreed that it be recommended to Council for approval, that Councillor T Fraser be voted  to the Community Action Committee.

040/08      Date of next meeting

Due to Easter falling on the date of the March meeting it was agreed that the meeting be moved from Monday 24 March to Tuesday 25 March.

041/08      DATE OF NEXT MEETING

The next meeting of the Community Action Committee will be held on Tuesday 25 March 2008.
