PRECEPT 2008
CAMPBELL PARK PARISH COUNCIL BUDGET AND LOCAL PRECEPT
Campbell Park Parish Council (CPPC) covers the areas of Winterhill, Oldbrook, Fishermead, Springfield, Woolstone, Willen, Newlands and Campbell Park.
The Parish Council serves a population of over 15,000, and has 20 Parish Councillors, democratically elected from each area or parish ward to serve your interests, (there are 2 vacancies at present). 6 full-time staff and 1 part time carry out the work of the Council.
The Parish Council is an independent body which raises its own Council tax to fund a range of activities carried out on your behalf exclusively within the Parish. Milton Keynes Council collects this, with the main Council Tax, on behalf of the Parish.
Campbell Park Parish Council is one of the most active amongst the 45 in the city,
having been in the forefront of providing services at a local level, including:-
Major clean-ups of local estates to avoid deterioration of the area;
Employing a Parish Warden to deal with safety and manage community issues on the spot;
Working with young people, including summer fun days throughout the Parish;
Working, through Age Concern, with older residents;
Supporting local artistic activity including Campbell Park Parish Choir and the MK Banner Project;
Spotlight events focusing on particular topics of interest to our Parish. This year these have included houses in multiple occupation, health and the Hindu faith. The Parish Council is also a partner with the REC hosting the first Diversity Ball in Milton Keynes.
The Parish Council's office is open from 10.00am to 4.00pm, Monday to Thursday and 10.00am to 3.00pm on a Friday and "drop-in" callers are welcome. On many occasions a Parish Councillor will be there to help you but, if not, one of the staff will either deal with your query or assist you to contact a Councillor.
The Council's budget last year was £455,500 and will remain the same for this year. This will allow us to continue to provide services which are targeted to your estates helping make them a safer, cleaner place to live and work in and to create happy and sustainable communities. It is also our hope to further build on the community involvement of residents in this Parish.
Our precept this year remains the same as last year. This money when collected can ONLY be used in the six wards within the Parish.
